Tips for Achieving Healthy Skin
By Florah Njoki
Maintaining healthy and radiant skin is every woman’s dream. However, most women lack sufficient knowledge concerning the same. For the vast majority, lack of information goes beyond proper understanding of healthy skin. Healthy skin does not lie on the outer surface radiance and glow. Skin health goes deep into the inner tissues known as the dermis. This is where blood vessels, oil, and sweat glands are found. When everything is okay in the dermis, it is reflected as advanced smoothness and tenderness in the epidermis. The biggest question revolves around the tips for achieving ultimate health in both the dermis and the epidermis.
As for the dermis, proper nutrition, body exercises, massage, and consumption of enough water on a daily basis works miracles. Proper nutrition can be defined as eating the right foods to ensure that the body and skin are supplied with the necessary nutrients. From proteins to carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals, each of them are essential for overall body health. However, portion control is very important to avoid excessive supply of some. Normally, improved skin health is achieved by consuming a lot of vegetables because they are rich in vitamins and minerals. Enough water supplies the skin with moisture and it also flashes out toxins. Exercises eliminate excess toxins from the body through sweating.
Generally, the condition of the epidermis relies on that of the dermis. However, there some things that must be done to maintain its appearance and feel. Firstly, avoid overexposure in the sun. The sun is a great source of vitamin D but overexposure in it leads to sunburns and long-term health complications such as skin cancer. If you must extend your stay under the sun, seek extra protection by using a sunscreen. If possible, use sunscreens that contain essential oils formulations. Furthermore, moisturize your skin regularly with natural based products. It is important to learn about your skin type before settling on a specific product. Lastly, ensure that you remove your makeup and cleanse your skin before retiring to bed. This allows your skin to breathe and enjoy enough supply of oxygen.
